Hi,
I am looking for hard base beds as used be back home (India). I saw some slatted base bed frames at IKEA but is there any store that sells hard base beds ?
You may contact any good Desi Furniture store and ask them to make one for you. They will happily do it, did for me too.

I saw a few at Sleep Factory - the base was not full solid single plank base, but several planks joined together.
Could serve your purpose.
The other option is to go to Amish or Mennonite furniture and have them custom build it.

Place a 1/4 " hard board sheet (from Home Depot ) on top of slats for stability . Place a cotton futon mattress and you are good to go ... Prefer solid wood (not pine) if you can get .
Check out Kinwai beds at Green furniture on Dixie / Dundas ... pretty good quality .

Fido.
Try High Density foam – no maintenance, no deformation, low cost and good for back. I bought one from a mattress factory near Hwy 27 and Albion – behind the gas station.
