Hello,
I had put in an application to sponsor my parents in August 2007. My online status states "Application Received". The status further states " We received your payment, along with one or more citizenship applications. To find out how long it takes to process a routine application, please consult the Application Processing Times". I have not received any letter in the mail as yet. However I am wondering if a letter was sent by CIC and did not reach me (I was out of town and had gone in for the hold mail option and do feel that I have not received the amount of mail I would have normally received in that time duration). I would like to know if my status update and lack of letter is normal. Also my application was received by CIC in August 2007 ( I got an acknowledgment letter then) why does the status still say received?
Thanks,

CIC is still processing parental sponsorship applications received until Aug 15, 2007.

Evidently, a decision has not been made so far, or is imminent as you say that you had applied in August 2007. Check the original acknowledgement letter for the date that your application was received.
Also, when your sponsorship is approved, the online status will show "Decision made". You should remember that everything is not synchronised to the dates that you see on the CIC timelines and are usually delayed by a few weeks. If you do not receive anything in the mail by Sep end, then you should contact CIC for clarification.
In the meanwhile, download the forms needed for the New Delhi portion of the process and send them to your parents and ask them to start gathering the documentation. Police clearance certificates can take a couple of months, so its better that they have all the necessary documentation ready.
The processing time in India will be another 2 years minimum, so you still have a long way to go.
Congrats fass2008, atleast something happened.
I applied for my parents on March - 2008 and waiting and waiting........
hope we will get some answers on end of this year.
Hold your horses.
Mr.Ravi Jain a leading immigration lawyer who advices on OMNI NEWS - 8.00PM news recently mentioned that the Canadian government wants to discourage family immigration as it is a drain on the governments finances as the parents are perceived of not generating income and paying taxes.
He mentioned that the whole thing is done in a calculated way that they are slowing down the whole process.
He also mentioned that the way it is happening it will take a minimum of 6 to 7 years in the current term and there is every possibility it will further slow down that even if the parents are hale and healthy will applying will have problems at the time of medical.
Hence by the end of 7 years if they have medical ailments their file will be rejected and also there is also another possibility of death and hence the file being dropped.
Even though I support the conservatives in this issue the only solution is vote Liberal with a condition that they will hasten the immigration process.

My application to sponsor my parents was approved a few months ago. Online status shows "Decision Made". My parents have submitted their application package to Delhi. Is there anyway of tracking the movement of the application in India? Or do we just wait for for the two to three years till we finally hear from the Delhi office?

Although you can check the staus of the application online, it is never updated step by step. You have to see the overall application times posted on CIC and then hope that they will adhere to those timelines in your case.
