Hi Everybody,

I am looking towards starting a New Age / Exotic Home Decor items business when I move to Canada. I want to start the same on a retail cart in a mall as the startup costs are much less for the same. So far, I have been able to find information online on the following malls only:

1. CenterPoint Mall

2. The Albion Centre

I would like to get some opinions from TorontoWasis regarding these Malls. Also, if anybody has suggestions about some other malls, I'd really appreciate it if You can post them here.

Hey DT, I don't want to start another thread on this touchy issue but let me tell you being a member of visible minority you can not have retail cart in a reputed Toronto shopping mall ( although VMs can be hired to work in those shops). It is not official but some shopping mall made it an unwritten rule.

One of my friend, immigrated from US, had same problem. He could not get place in any reputed Toronto shopping mall so finally he had to move to Cambridge ( 50 km out of Mississauga). If you are interested I can talk to him on your behalf to have some idea about retail cart business in the GTA.

If You could find out the required info from Your friend, I'd be very grateful. Also, what kind of business was Your friend looking to start? One thing that I've come across in Canadian Malls is that they seem to be very protective about their exisiting tenants. That may be a reason why they might refuse to lease a cart to someone as they want to maintain a balance mixture of products. However, I do agree with You that some "High Class" malls don't lease to VMs as that is the case in the US also.

Thankfully, my business will cater to Upper Middle Class and Middle Class clients
