You can search add for Basement apartment in local news paper for ex Mississauga News (You haven’t clarified about the area). Desi grocery stores are also having number of adds. Some malls also have notice boards where you can search rental adds, West wood mall at Malton have this kind of adds. If you are internet savvy do google search to find number of adds posted on Internet. Search on Canadiandesi, craigslist, kijiji etc..
