A Proud Indian Canadian

Mr.Narendra Modi is the best chief minister of any state in India. Having lived in Gujarat from 1994-1998 and travelling periodically through Gujarat it is the best state/safest state to live in India.

The people are the best and the most helpful in comparison to any other state in India. Even though it might look like people are nosy or very much interested in others life, you get to know the value of it only when you have an accident or death in your family and how people (known and unknown ) come to your help.

I was very much delighted when Ms. Geethika asked the crowd to make noise after calling each state name in the recently concluded Panorama India in Brampton, the MAXIMUM noise came from Gujarati section. The gujarati people where the only one who waved the Indian flag, while the other where more concerned about their friends performance.

People do not give much importance to Sardar Vallabhai Patel and his contribution to the nation building of India. He was the guy who put together India and was pictured in the Time magazine cover as seen above in January 27, 1947 that is before Independence of India.

The greatness of Modi is that he has not been given a visa to travel to USA. If he had a grudge he would have side tracked US investment in India. But he is still courted by US businessmen who are literally standing in Q to set shop in Gujarat.

To Err is Human but to Forgive is Divine. He has taken a higher plane with US and they are benefitted by this and hence flows the investment into Gujarat.

Once I had the good fortune of travelling with the former CM Keshubhai Patel and his wife on a Jet Airways flight from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. They enquired about me and treated me like their kid. There was no entourage with them and they travelled like any simple gujarati family. Just think how either Karunanidhi or Jayalalitha travel. You cannot get 10 Feet near to them in the airport.

Gujarati's are very simple people and I hope they remain the same wherever they go. I have travelled many a Multi-Crorepathis in the first class compartment of Borivali to Churchgate. You never can judge who they are until you open a Business magazine in India and find that they are MD's and CEO's of large companies in India.

Go Gujarat !, Go India & Go Reliance(My Most Favorite Company in the world)!

Thanks for the kind and nice words for Gujaratis, however this observation of yours is stretching it a bit too far. I have travelled by Borivali - Churchgate local for 5 years and never bumped into a MD or CEO of a large co.

Thank you Sir, for being so kind to Gujarat and Gujarati, you had a good experience so far. But it might be one side of picture. Gujarat is ahead of many States in India in terms of growth and investment, but there are many area which needs focus. Industry and economy are not only measurements of growth.
And Completely agree, Gujarati are very simple..

I agree with Vandematram reg Gujaratis are simple folks. They don’t show off. When asked for help, they are there. What puzzles me is that if things are so good in the state, why they want to get out (immigrate to west)? May be now it has reduced as compared to 70s and 80s. Note that there are number of south Indians working in PWD in that state. Not sure why. May be Gujaratis dont want to work for the govt., rather they be entrepreneurs.
