Has anyone seen this movie? Any reviews or recommendations?
Thanks.

I saw the trailer of this movie. It started with "Bhangra" beats, and it just gave me a feeling that the whole "Indian experience" was being stereotyped with the "Bhangra" music. (May be just my bias). Why not use ARR or Pritam or SEL as MD?
Also, Seema Biswas talking with Indian accent and doing some immoral stuff also looked too cliched and stereotypical. Strictly IMO, I wouldn't be interested in watching "Cooking with Stella". I would rather watch "Darjeeling Limited" one more time.
Not a fan of Deepa Mehta or Mira Nair movies. Mira Nair's "Monsoon Wedding" is one of the worst movies I have ever seen.
Thanks Meghal. How was Darjeeling limited? I havent seen that one either.
I dont mind artsy films but i agree, monsoon wedding was a bit unrealistic.

I saw "Cooking with Stella" recently.
Overall, a nice funny enjoyable movie.
Has all the stereotypes of a typical "NRI" movie.
No evidence of "bhangra" beats previously mentioned though - that may just have been in the preview.
I think Seema Biswas played a great character portrayal here.
The contract between her religious self and her side business activities is the highlight of the movie.
That said, my only concern is the possbility of bad perception by non-Indian communities.
There is a chance that this movie comes across as "Indians are cheats and thieves" and "Indians only need the slightest of opportunity for ripping off goras", etc.
Just has "Monsoon Wedding" portrayed a very poor and unrealistic image, I'm concerned this may do the same for some people.
Those kinds of cultural and nationalistic sensitivities aside, it's a good enjoyable movie watchable with family.
