Is this made available to you. If so call them and find out how they can help you. If it is not available to you, then ask them for any suggestions and get a phone number to contact from some one there. Also contact the University that you attended for some suggestions and help. They will have ready answers for you. Also contact OHIP. Recently they have made some changes to accommodate students like you. Please call them and find out.

Purchase a secondary insurance policy to cover gaps in UHIP coverage
Examples:
Arrival in Canada of a newly admitted student
August 2, 2010
Start of the University session
September 2, 2010
Start of UHIP coverage
August 10, 2010
N.B.: In this case, we recommend that the student obtain temporary health insurance for the coverage period from August 2, 2010 (date of arrival) to August 10, 2010.
Arrival in Canada of a newly admitted student
December 2, 2009
Start of the University session
January 5, 2010
Start of UHIP coverage
December 10, 2009
NB: We recommend that the student obtain temporary health insurance for the coverage period from December 2, 2009 to December 10, 2009.
The Studentguard company offers temporary coverage at $1.45/person/day.
The Travelguard company offers temporary coverage at $2.70/person/day.
Further information on the coverage provided by these insurance companies is available on their respective Web sites.
