WHEN TO CONVERT:
Here ia a YAHOO Chart for the Canadian Dollar and Indian Rupee.
http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=CADINR=X+Interactive#symbol=CADINR=X;range=1y When the Indian Rupee gets strong we get less money when we SELL the Canadian Dollars. So wait for such a time ONLY IF YOU CAN. Other wise do it now and you also know the rates from the web site. It is an interactive one and will update every day for you. The lesser the Indian Rupees you have to Pay to get a Canadian Dollar the better it is.
YOU CAN BRING AS MANY DOLLARS AS YOU CAN.
HOW YOU CAN GET MONEY HERE. (Into Canada)
1) Fastest is Bank transfers. Talk to your Bank there in India and see if they can have it in a town near by where you are going to live. Such as Mississauga. ONT. All you do is just walk in collect or start using it. BUT it is no good for showing while you are getting into Canada.
2) The instruments that you can cash immediately are Travelers Cheques and other one is with credit card advances.
3) A little slow but for sure are Demand Drafts (or called DD's) it takes a month or more to cash some times. That is why you carry a DD when you carry it is safe.
4) ON PERSON: Some people are used to carry large sums of money. So they are comfortable with a large sum. I am comfortable with a sum of $9999.00. because it is a dollar under the limit these CBSA (Canadian Border Service Agency) Officers cannot do much about. BUT... "DECLARE ALL THE MONEY THAT YOU ARE CARRYING ON YOU." when you land. You are safe at all times.
So you can bring enough to get you by for about two full months and then wait for the rest to be put into your Bank account. (By depositing the DD)
Freddie.
