I am not in Canada at the moment. If I had been, I would not have posted this question on the forum anyway. I always prefer to have first hand information from the sources. The website is not clear about this situation.

Yes, often information on sites like the CIC, CBSA and CRA are not abundantly clear. For instance, your query reminded me about the duty free importation of personal effects into Canada by new immigrants. The allowance is apparently *per family* not per person. This is not clear from the CBSA website.
