Dear fellows,

I want to move some cash from Saudi to my account in Canada. I have TD Canada Trust account, but when i went to western union with swift code and other details,...they couldn't trace my bank and said that this bank was not in their list. Al rajhi Taweel says that it will go via UK, will take a lot of time, and I have to bear transfer fees at three places, here in Saudi SAR 85, some unknown amount in UK and C$ 17.5 in Canada. And even after paying this much, there is no guarantee that money will reach my account, it may come back sometimes. Anyone who has wired money from Riyadh to Canada, pls share your experience. urgent

Thanks

-----------

I will throw you a few facts, so that you can make your own judgment on this.

US 1 Dollar = 3.6729 AED Dhirams. The market has been steady for the past few days.
CAN 1 Dollar = 3.3805 AED Dhirams. Canadian Dollar has been fluctuating.

The guys I talked with says , 416-649-8597, that he will offer for a sum of 100,000 Dhirams = 29230 Can Dollars. Which equals 3.4211 to one CD

That includes their 1.2% commission. Delivery from Montreal to your Bank in 24 hours. (Not on the week end.) Better rates, if you exchange more than 100,000 AED Dh.

Also try Khaleej Times.com/forex They Quote 3.3660 slightly better.

Al Rajhi's offer today is 3.2360 Dhirams For a USD. NOT SO GOOD, for selling.

You each, can carry a sum of $10,000 Canadian on person while you are entering Canada. Make sure that you DECLARE the sum upon arrival at the CBSA check point. Also tell them that you are New Immigrants coming down to settle down. It is POF

TUE/WED are good days to exchange.

From X-Rates FAQ:

Q. Are these buy or sell rates?
A. Actually, they’re neither. We provide the middle point between both – effectively the wholesale rate that large financial institutions are trading at. You won’t be able to buy at this rate, but it will let you know what the current market value is. The closer you get to this rate in a transaction, the better.

Hello Hasni,

I made those calls personally to verify that they are a local company. But there are additional requirements that need to get verified. They are, their registration here in Canada to operate as an Exchange Operator and their banking channels. I also know that they have a fintrac verification number too. All I know is that their Bankers are a Local one, and it is RBC and you can ask them for all of their verification etc., through their e-mail system, prior to conducting business through them.

You are parting with all of your life's savings and in one transaction, also moving to a new location. If you do have an address here and a Bank Account that is current and you are sure the funds will reach the bank you deal with, then proceed with caution. If any of the links are currently missing then, you will have to establish an address and a Bank Account etc., and then take the next step.

Also do you like their rates and have you dickered with them to bring them down to a level, where you are getting a bargain? All of these are features that one has to look into and I am glad that I am of assistance to you in this regard.

Get back to us with each step of the verification and if needed, do a small transaction that will first get through them to your local bank.

Good Luck.

FH.
Please note that they also have a feature, when they do the exchanges, when a rate that you so desire does gets hit and then they will do it for you at that rate. They will do the waiting and watching for you. ALERT ME SERVICES.

Thanks FH, yes I do have current account with TD Canada Trust and liked the idea of first going for a small amount. Actually I have never been to such things and can't say for sure whether they would still be a reliable source even all the verification goes satisfactory. One last question, what these guys are doing is legal or an advanced version of "hundi" !
