I wanted to stay in Canada for not more than 1 month for just to get the PR Card of myself and my family . How much minimum funds do I need to show at the Airport in cash or in form of drafts . I am thinking of taking CAD$ 10,000 dollars as cash or as drafts and rest I would like to show as Bank deposits statements of the Bank taken 2 days prior to my departure to Canada . Will this suffice to enter the Country . Please let me know.
Thanks
It is $10000 for sponsors and $2000 for every dependents.

Here is an update. :
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp Make sure you have that much amount or more....
Here is a form that they might ask you to fill and submit : http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/e677.pdf
Your Bank Balance in Indian Rupees is not a valid instrument as it cannot be transferred out of India in a hurry. That is why they say you should carry on you a negotiable instrument. Such as.... DD in foreign Currency, Cash in the form of any currency that could be exchanged here in Canada, (Negotiable) Bonds, Stock Certificates etc., See the list in the link.

Hi freddie and gopalpai
I landed first time at canada in dec06 and shown the proof of funds and got PR cards thru my friends later in 07. I stayed only one day in canada..not sure whethere it is updated in their records or not. I have taken the ROAD path from canada to USA. now I am entering canada with PR card from INDIA.
1. Will they ask me any Proof of funds ?
2. will they ask me when did I leave canada to update their records or they already found and will ask I have stayed only one day in canada , justify it or something like that.
3. I have choosen road path at that time hence thinking whether they have any record updation when did i leave etc?
Thanks

Today indian banks are issuing ATM cards which holds Visa or Mastercard logos and can be accessible by any bank ATM machines in the world having the same logos. So if i have a bank account in india and i can withdraw my money in USA or Canada.
Currently I am staying in Saudi Arabia and i withdrew my indian bank account money in Saudi Arabia and Dubai.
So ATM cards can be used as a negotiable instruments as a POF during landing ?
.........And how do you expect the officer at POL to check the amount your card holds ??
So my educated guess is "NO - ATM card cannot be used as Proof of funds "
Hope that helps a little
