I am a Canadian Citizen living in Canada with OCI status. I opened a fixed deposit account in India last year. The bank has deducted the necessary tax for the interest earned. I do not have any other income in India other than that interest. Do I need to file and pay the tax in India if the income earned is less than 1.5 lakhs ? If yes, please let me know how do I file the tax from Canada ? Appreciate your feedback.
