Relocating to Edmonton

Hello!
I am planning to move to Edmonton for a Job..I would really like to hear someone from out there about the city life..in general and weather rent ..safe area to live, desi community etc.

Any help/guidance will be highly appreciated.

Hi there,

Congrats on your job, I lived in edmonton for a couple of years, it is a nice city also called winter city (long and extereme winters). Rent depends what exactly you want, to give you an idea a 2 bed apartment 800~1000 PM (depending on location and age etc), duplex ~1500 PM etc.
South of the city is where most of the desi community lives and you will find lots of desi shops there and it is safe over there, avoid North side though rents are lower(for a reason). My suggestion is finding residence near to your work (short commute) as the weather and roads get nasty during winter. If you own a vehicle you can go from one end of the city to another perhaps in an hour (provided no wintery conditions/ traffic jam).

How safe is millwoods or pleasantview?

Millwoods is filled with desi people. It is close to Millwoods town center (one of the main public transit stop and the Mall), Indian grocery store and the Superstore.

Do not have info on Pleasantview.

Hi,

I too am moving to Edmonton soon - mostly 2nd week of October. My workplace is a few minutes from West Edmonton Mall. Which areas around that are considered safe for family. I have been looking at Apts in Millwoods and SW, but would live to save time commuting. How is the day care system in Millwoods?
