Hi friends,
Am a recent migrant in Edmonton. I'm looking for a good school preferably in the South west area, for my 7 year old child. Overall education quality is said to be good here but I'm also looking for a safe, good community nearby.
Please share your experiences and suggestions.
Thanks.

Hi Taker,
We're living in Ermineskin area. My kid is in Keheewin School now.
I just went thro' the link & i have some initial doubts .
Do only the schools mentioned in the link, have this cogito program ?
Do we have to pay to get admission ?
In what way is this program different from the regular ones in public schools ?
We too don't have transport & walking 20 to 25 mins. [one-way] to school in this unbearable weather is extremely difficult
Does your son's school not have school bus ?
OK, I will read the link leisurely in detail . Appreciate your response.
Thanks very much.
We will be moving to Canada in next 12 months. We are from Mumbai. I just want to know, are their any tests before getting admission in school for my 7 years old son? He must have finished his grade I here from a good English Medium ICSE board school, before we move to Canada. Can he cope up with the curriculum or English language accent used there? (English language used in India is very very different from the language used abroad). Please guide. Do I need to prepare him from now itself? Please help.

Thank you very much Taker.
Congratulations to your son for securing admission ! Yes, daily homework is a MUST to keep the kids interested & knowing the importance of hard work. Otherwise it is just play / art & craft & they grow up without any sense of the importance of education .
Yes, I too am leaning towards the cogito system ; but as I didn't know earleir , am too late for Sep.'09 ; will enquire in the neighbouring cogito school for more details .
If you happen to know of any other similar such system for which I may be eligible & not missed the date ----- please let me know.
Thanks.
Hello Crystal & Taker,
I was going through your posts and have some observations from my side.
I also have a son of 6years going to the normal elementary school curriculum. The school is just one road across and hence ideal.
But considering the cogito program-yes it does have its advantages..but again the normal curriculum is also not soo bad.
And also from the higher standards like the 5th-6th Grade all the schools have the curriculum...
So in a way it prepares the kids of younger age to get used to the conditions here and adapt to it...
Anyway each one is open to his/her own opinions on the matter.....
