Cricket is a game of chance, they say. And equally unpredictable are the game's lovers, who can go to extremes for the love of the game.
A cricket loving man of Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh saw to it that he and his guests did not miss the match between India and Zimbabwe, played on Wednesday, while he ties the nuptial knot.
Girish, one of the bridegroom's relative in Bhopal who attended the wedding, said, "It was finalised between the two families that an LCD projector would be provided at the marriage venue so that the cricket lovers enjoy the India-Zimbabwe World Cup cricket match also.
"When his marriage date was being finalised, the bridegroom Praveen Kashyap, had made it clear to the two families that if an LCD projector was not installed at the wedding venue, he won't marry on the fixed date", Girish said.
"It was mentioned in his marriage invitation cards also that those who come to his wedding would enjoy the game as well, as arrangement of an LCD projector for the match telecast has also been made", he added.
"And when India won the match, the bridegroom and his guests made merry to add colour to the marriage solemnised at a ground near Hanuman Mandir in Krishi Nagar locality of the district.
While Kashyap and the guests screamed, cheered and applauded when Sachin Tendulkar hammered the balls to the boundaries, the people living nearby couldn't stay indoors. They too reached the wedding venue to know what was going on.
Kashyap, according to Girish, boasts his wedding could be a big bash because of the live coverage of the match. "It won't have been such big fun if we had not installed the LCD", he said.
Asked what if India had lost the match, he said that it would have been devastating.
It is good that india won, otherwise Girish would have considered this marriage unlucky and so the bride!
Stupid crazy people!
