Hi There,
I have a few questions in my mind . Currently, I am on a student permit and supposed to study full time but switched to part time course so that i can maintain my status in canada until i get my residency.
So, is it legal also to stay in canada with study permit and switch to part time course?
I am planning to visit my parents this month to india. So for that purpose i have recently received single entry visa from buffalo which i never used before to enter into canada. Is that TRV enough to re enter into canada? As everyone was suggesting me to have multiple entry visa. so i am a bit confused.
do u all think that my part time studies can stop me from re-entering into canada??????
Please help me folks
1. To maintain the student status, you are expected to enroll for full-time studies (atleast 9 credit hours during regular term ) unless there is a "valid" reason. Normally you can get away .... but there can be always a problem ... and you should know how to manage it.
2. If you have a valid TRV ... you can reenter into Canada before its expiry. You need multiple only if you want to travel more than once during its validity.
3. Normally, your part time studies is not be a problem when you reenter into the country and you will not be stopped as your academic standing will not come into the picture (most of the times). However, you need to know how to handle if that question comes.
Thanks a lot for the reply....
I have a valid reason for switiching my full time course to part time before the batch started. But I still dont understand the 9 credit thing as the school i enrolled for full time course is a private institute.
Please share some more info on it.
I am into 6 months part time course that gonna end in jan'11 so i am thinking to enroll myself into full time course before I leave canada. In that way, it might justify my re-entering back to canada.
If you are a person who came to Canada on a study permit issued to study in a public college and later you switched to private college ..
........ then it will be a good idea to enroll in a public college (to avoid complications)
I was never enrolled in a public college or university but a Private college....
so is it ok to enroll into private college only?
Which college admission letter you have given to the consulate to obtain student visa first ( private or public) ?
I came to canada from India in 2007 with a student visa enrolled in a private institute and then got my post graduate wp after that i switched back to student visa again in with the private school acceptance letter
