This has got my blood boiling and unfortunately cannot do anything about it now.
I got a website designed by a company in Noida and then paid them to do SEO work for google promotions. They did a shoddy job and now I have lost money not only for work done on website but also that sent for SEO work.
After having spent so much I just want to see some business generated from the website. I was warned not to work with an Indian firm from here but got patriot and thought if Indians are best in IT work why not send some business home ... least to say how full of regret and anger I am now! The inquiry form on site is not working and if I ask them to rectify it they demand $100 to just look at the issue!
I had a few questions and am hoping knowledgable friends could help me:
1. If I have the admin pw, is it possible for them to hack the website and damage it somehow? The site is not hosted on their server right now.
2. I have admin pw to change all things on site except the homepage which is hardcoded. Can I still access it?
3. How dfficult is SEO promotion to do by our own self? If I want to some basic web promotion myself (I do not know html but do have good knowledge of using internet plus can write blogs, can do facebook promotions etc.)
4. Is pay per click advertising any good?
Anyone who could help me with some basic freelance work to correct these things would be greatly appreciated too.

No, They cannot do any damage unless they put hacking code intentionally.

Sorry to hear about your case.
To answer some of your queries. I gather from your note that they do not have access to any part of your website (neither hosting, not part code running on their servers). Also, they do not have any password to any administration setup or content on your website. If they do, then make sure that they do not have this level of access. Do you have any signed agreement for support with them?
