Hi CDs,

Fyi, stay away from this website (www. BookYourRoadTest.com) and also spread the word around.
My relative, while booking a road test in a hurry and not being careful enough, entered his details including credit card number, address, etc. in this website which showed up when he did a Google search for G2 road test booking in Ontario. This website is fraudulent and has already scammed people in earlier occasions. This is a website based in UK (Wolverhampton, United Kingdom) and RCMP has already designated it to be a scam.
Refer to the link: http://www.myhaliburtonnow.com/5772/opp-find-fraudulent-website-for-booking-driving-tests/

I did some digging around and it seems that the main culprits behind this scam is an Indian family residing in UK.
Link: https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/07116149/officers

Monika BADHAN, Sandeep BADHAN, Sheela DEVI ? apparently looks like brother, sister & mother.
I have advised him to notify the RCMP as well as the London Metropolitan Police, although I am not very sure how much they will do. Also advised him to cancel the card and notify the bank, which he did. Hopefully he will get his $120 back.

Edit: The above site clearly says they are not affiliated with Ministry of Transportation and even provides a link to drivetest.ca

I guess it leaves the responsibility to the person booking through their site.

If it were a phishing site, it could have been reported to Google and other sites who will block them.

Seriously!! Did you even bother to read through the links that I have provided in my post??

This website has been designated as a "scam" even by the OPP and you are still doubting whether its fraudulent or not!

The reason the website provides the "DriveTest" link is to make it look more authentic & genuine so that people who are not careful enough will walk into the trap of entering all the details. It says it will take all the hassle of booking the test on the customers behalf, which they don't and disappear with the money. There is no phone number listed in the site, the only way you can contact them is via email, which they don't respond to.

Take a look at this link: http://blackburnnews.com/sarnia/sarnia-news/2014/10/02/caution-advised-when-booking-road-tests/

where it says that people have entered their details via this website believing that their test has been booked but when they turned up at the testing center on the test date, they realized that no test have been booked on their behalf.

Problem is whatever this other site is doing, they have stated in their website and in their agreement. I agree people may sign up with them when booking in haste but you are bound by the agreement when you click on it. It is same like a contract, if you don't understand don't sign it. If you sign, you are bound by it.

I also tried to look up if they are referenced on any site like OPP or Ontario other than news websites but they are not.

I can't figure out why you are unable to understand the situation:
The website "doesn't" offer any service(s) as promised by them in the website, THEY DO NOT RENDER ANY SERVICE OF ANY KIND, they just take the money and vanish. Although they say they will refund a partial amount if you cancel later, they DON'T!!!

Regarding clicking on the agreement, even if you click on it/agree to the terms & conditions, there cant be a legal contract via a website which is solely based on fraud. That kind of contract cant be enforced, plain & simple. No court in the civilized world would uphold that!
And just because it has been archived in the OPP/RCMP websites doesn't mean it didn't exist at one point of time. Besides I will be talking to the RCMP next week to get more information about this scam.

Will be updating CDs before the end of next week about the outcome.

Please do update what OPP says.

Here are the comment from the Facebook link you posted:
"I just got burned and they tell me to read the terms and conditions, they didn't even do anything other than take my money, say there is a problem with booking and refunded money to my card. When I checked my card they only refunded a portion and tell me that is the terms!!! Credit card company says too bad, should be more careful!!!"

Another one: "too bad I found this after I got burned , tried to canceled it, nothing happened, no telephone number, Bank did not do anything, said its your own fault"

Thank you for providing us with a few links where in they provide NO services to the common public and cheat them off their money providing nothing for it. In these days it has become a very sophisticated way of getting a few unsuspecting people and having got cheated, people don't want to go public and shame themselves with their ignorance, goes undetected till some one wants to make it public and want to STOP such activities, posts it to us.

Anyone who is doing it blatantly needs to get slapped with a fine or a sentence. But not knowing how nor living in that part of the world, we resort to open forum to vent it out and seek redress. Hopefully it helps others.

There is a general term that the legal people use in such circumstances. It is called "Caveat Emptor".

Please see below.

FH.

Caveat emptor, (Latin: ?let the buyer beware?), in the law of commercial transactions, principle that the buyer purchases at his own risk in the absence of an express warranty in the contract.

As a maxim of the early common law, the rule was well suited to buying and selling carried on in the open marketplace or among close neighbours. The increasing complexity of modern commerce has placed the buyer at a disadvantage. He is forced to rely more and more upon the skill, judgment, and honesty of the seller and manufacturer.

The modern law of commercial transactions recognizes this and protects the buyer by implying various exceptions to the principle of caveat emptor. Thus, in the case of a sale by sample, the law implies a condition in the contract that the bulk of the merchandise will correspond with the sample in quality and that the buyer will have a reasonable opportunity to examine the bulk of the merchandise. Likewise, when the buyer has made known to the seller the particular purpose for which the goods are required, the law implies a condition in the ensuing contract that the merchandise is of merchantable (average) quality and reasonably fit for the intended purpose.
