It has been almost six months that I have moved back to India. Time runs fast. Some +ves and –ves.
Positives: Home is home. That’s where the heart is. Mentally peaceful and happy. May be getting a bit lazy. I can do what I want. e.g. watch cricket, sleep in the afternoon, etc. Kids are doing fine in schools. No need to get up early to go to work, but have to get up to wake up the kids. I can sleep after they leave for school. Investments in real estate is slowly getting to shape. I don’t have to drive. Doing small contract work that keeps my mind busy a bit.
Negatives
Need to follow up with issues all the time. Things don’t get done the first time. People change. Some uncles/aunts/cousins have become selfish. They will talk only if they want something from us. When we invite they will come to lunch/dinner. They don’t invite us back. Mainly Superficial / discontented souls. Outside traffic congestion / pollution / noise. But we don’t hang around outside too long. Small irritants are always there, that does not bother us.
Overall, no regrets. Glad that we came back. I have learnt a lot in Canada. The country was good to us. Not to forget CDs who supported in the discussion forum and through PMs. As I have said in the past, our situation is different.
Nice post.
I am curious about how yr kids are handling this integration ,specifically schools. How r they doing when it comes to languages in school as you know schools in India they teach average 3 to 4 diff languages so I was wondering how r they handling these languages and how is their performance / grade?
Thanks KumarM for the update,
Glad to note that you are settling into a routine comfortably.
I hope the children are coping well at school. Do they see any major culture shock? how do they feel about the standards at school with what they have learnt in canada?
In Canada, we are in the middle of Postal strike by Canada post(they were the only ones left!)
Rob Ford's waistline and city deficit is increasing with each passing day.
Steven harper is comfortably settled whereas TK has gone missing.
Slut-walks are more popular than marathon's in Toronto.
Rest is all the same.
Best wishes
Sri.

Our kids settled very quickly, within days I should say. Family moved before I joined them. In fact most kids who have moved from North America settle quick. Kids join other kids, start talking/playing and they are settled. I think we parents make a big deal out of kids. I have met parents who put their kids as a front not to move back to India. Well that's their problem.
Language wise, our kids have mandatory Hindi and local langauge. So far so good. Both are in ICSE.
Those who want to move from Canada to India, I suggest to move before kids go to high school, say before 14.
