Hello Immigration Expert,

I was wondering if you could shed some light / provide me with some more information on this.

If I have Canadian Citizenship and decide to start a company. Say I run it succesfully for 4 or 5 months and do everything the right and legal way. After a while as my company grows and I need more help, can I hire my parents as employees in the company? They are both in their 50s. This wouldn't just be as formality, my Dad would be a great help to join me and help me out with business.

The reason I'm thinking of this alternative is that, family sponsorship takes over 3+ years, whereas this would be more immediate? Could you please give me some more details on the timeline and procedures involved?

I will be extremely greatful for any advice and suggestions ...

Are there any documents outlining the procedure? Can I not claim that it is a family business and I'd like to keep it that way.

Moreover, I know my parents would work with their heart and not just for a regular salary if I hired someone else ....

Are you thinking arranged employment option under FSW category? For arranged employment, the offer has to be validated by HRSDC. Its almost like getting a LMO and not a easy process. You may need to prove citizens/PRs are not available in Canada for that position. CIC site has all the info

They may try come under enterpriser catagory. Where you father can be main owner of your company.

U will have a very hard time convincing CIC about ur parents as employees for ur business.. most likely their Work visa application will get reject.
