You can get an EB visa in the US within 6 months. The requirement is that you invest in a business with certian provisions. Some statess require a minimum of 100,000.00 all the way up to 350,000.00 In Canada it varies from 250,000.00 to 500,000.00. Most of the business ventures are genuine but you should check them out properly and get some guarantees befor getting involved in any.
San-Hugo,
The businessmen that I have seen never put the full money. They pay 20% down and take 80% loan and apply for the business visa.
So you just need 10-20%

Man!
What people do it, they start a business, hold it for the mandatory 1-2 years that you are supposed to hold for you to sponser your relatives, get Ok to apply for citizenship and then (if your business is at a loss or you want to move to better pastures), then you must sell your business to another unsuspecting immigrant (who wants to come to SK for sponsering his relatives / getting Citizenship of Canada) and then move on.
Fact may be that, the business that you propose to buy may be from an immigrant wanting to pass on his loss making business to an unsuspecting immigrant.
That is how Canada grows.
Jai Canada !

You and your partner can find a suitable business in SK and go for it.
Once your job is done and mandatory period is over, then you will have options either to sell it or managet it ( you never know).
