But if they have to perform background check then they will get your work history from other sources. That is the meaning of background check.
They don't need to get it from SIN.
If you have signed a waiver, the sin can be used to run a background check..
If there was any kind of withholding on that SIN, it will show up in the background check..
2 weeks exp is too short to be mentioned on a resume and u can always say it was not significant enough to show on ur resume..

What generally happens in credit checks and how can my previous employer names be revealed in that? Please elaborate as I am very new in Canada.

SIN Number does not give the info of previous employers.. its a personal info, & as per privacy rules, these matters are confidential.
SIN Number is required only because the employers has to deposit the deductions at Revenue Canada, & they have to issue Tslip for your employment earnings.
Credit check can reveal previous employer name
Some employers may request your previous T-slip in which case it will reveal your past employer
