Hi Desi's,
I am new in Canada and need clarification of SIN number, what truly can an employer see with your SIN number when applying for a work? As I am new here I might start any job right now which I would not like to declare that job to future or immediate employer, can an employer see what all jobs I had in the past and if you quit or got fired in those? I have also heard that people do get fired quite frequently here. So, If employer can see my past record with SIN number, if this is the case then I will be very careful in choosing job.
Your feedback will be highly appreciated.
Employers cannot see your historical employment history with your SIN. All they need the SIN for is to ensure that you are legally allowed to work in the country, deduct taxes, CPP, EI etc. and credit it to your account.

Thanks Sudesh for info.
I would request if few more practical experiences can be shared.
If any one from HR from any organisation can also provide inputs.
Thanks

Senior's,
Can you provide your inputs on an urgent basis? I have a very good offer and need to submit the details to employer. I am confused if I should be providing information for the job I did it for 15 days. I have not declared this job till now to HR or hiring manager in my resume and in interview but now they have send me a form to fill for background check which is asking for recent/current employer and SIN no.. If I don't disclose, will they be able to come to know about my last job by SIN number or any other source. I don't want to disclose my last job as I was asked to leave after 10 days. Please respond urgently as I need to send them the details by tomorrow.
Thanks
Can they find out the gender of the person using the SIN.
If my name was LakshmiNarayanan, can they find out if I am a male or a female?
peace

If you have not disclosed it, than why bother.
And its only 15days temporary job, which will not change your work profile/experience/ qualification in any significant way..
SIN Number does not give the info of previous employers.. its a personal info, & as per privacy rules, these matters are confidential.
SIN Number is required only because the employers has to deposit the deductions at Revenue Canada, & they have to issue Tslip for your employment earnings.
