Your husband should not have a problem as chefs are welcome in most hotels. I had a friend who just arrived some time back and he started working for the Fairmont.
You might take a little longer and keep you options open for a career change, be positive and all the chips will fall into place.

any place withing Toronto should be OK

2 months rent to be paid upfront

rent for 1 bhk $800 to $1000

if you have 2 children < 5 yr age rent will be covered by child benefit.
