Would appreciate if I could know the process of getting parents on a visit here from India (Mumbai) and requirements if any from their end as well as ours. Also a format of an invite if available. thanks.
It is very simple. Send them a letter addressed to the High Commissioner, New Delhi with their full. Names, DOB, full passport info for each of the parent in a single invitation, plus your last year notice of assessment copy and a letter from your employer stating your position, salary and years of service. In the invitation letter you can mention that they are coming to Canada for meeting your family and plan to travel around Canada for sightseeing. You can also mention that you take full responsibility for their stay, travel, boarding, lodging and other incidentals. You should also include tentative dates for entry and exit.
Your parents should catch a good travel agent in Mumbai who also does visa and he for a few thousand rupees will tell your parents what kind of documentation they should provide like IT papers, bank statement, FD copies, property holding copies and documentation showing their ties to india and they will return to India.
The travel agent is the best as he knows by experience the recent trend and what works.
The crux is their previous foreign travel if any and documentation showing ties to India.
Now a days it is very easy and the whole process of submission to receipt takes hardly 7 to 10 days.

Last November 2011 it costed around 4500 (100 $)+ 2000 per person for the whole process. The travel agent submitted the papers and then gave the stamped visa passport back in 10 calendar days.
It is very simple and follow the travel agent instructions.

What if we have just come into the country and have new jobs?? Will that pose a prob???
It should not really matter as long as they show ties to India.
It was CAD $ 100( it was INR 45 per dollar) for the 6month single entry visa and the travel agent charged 2000 per person as commission.
