There has to be another way though. What is the expectation of the Indian govt., that passports be sent with strangers?

I'm sure your case is genuine but you'll appreciate that many people, even if they are travelling, would be very hesitant to carry someone else's passport that they don't know. What happens when their bags are opened and customs in India start grilling on that other passport? I don't think they would readily accept that someone asked on an online forum and you're carrying their passport, especially with all the heightened security these days. What if they suspect you stole someone passport or worse yet, have a fake passport/identity? It can open a whole can of worms....

You're probably not getting too many volunteers because of this. I understand that one can write a book on how convoluted the govt.'s rules are, but please do some more research - there's got to be a better way of getting your passport back. Good luck!

hii, thanks for your reply, but its legal to send passport with a person out of country with the authorization letter, its illegal if we send passport through post,actually i have sent my passport through a person to canada in june for visa stamping, i dont think there will be any problem in sending passport thourgh person with authorization letter, i have gone through lots of search in google and freinds, everyone suggested that sending passport through a person is totally legal and safe, thats y i have posted this here,
