Work Permit Processing Time

Hi,

I live in USA on H1 visa now and I have to move temporary to Canada for 6-8 months. My current employer is transferring me to Canada and I am in IT industry. My employer is saying that workpermit is filed on 25-May-2012, but he is saying that he doesn't have case #. Is it really possible that it's already a month and we don't get case#.

I will have to move out of USA before July end. Please suggest if it is possible to get workpermit by that and travel to canada.

Work permit has levels of application and process..... It should take approx. 6-7 months .... Start to finish....
