Dear Cd's,
I happy to share with you news that I have got employment in Iraq and will be moving there in 60 days.
The location is Basra and is close to Kuwait. I will be working in the construction of a local gov. building and will live in a fortified enclosure with Gym and super market. Accomodation is single status with a fully furnished bedroom with common living and dining. Internet connection and mobile will be given.
I was given this oppertunity as they were unable to find any Indian passport holders. Salary is in USD is twice what I get here. Vacation is 1 month leave (fully paid) for 12 months worked.
Hope to connect with CD's based in Iraq.
Peace
Murali Krishna

A Delhite in Toronto
My cousin went there late last year on an assignment in a rig, shared a very positive outlook ($$$$) of the assignment. He lived as a single guy close to the pumping station / refinery, so he survived on Internet for his entertainment, but he worked a long shift with just a day off so that he could spend a month in India every quarter.
He had to return due to a personal problem though, he is really looking to go back but his family problem seem to deter him going abroad.
He worked in the same city neighborhood you mentioned (Bashra that is how it is referred there), Emirates has a service to Dubai and then to India. You are likely to meet people from south india region, so you would have same people to chat with on Friday (weekend there).
Ask them to split the vacation every 3 months to cope up with the loneliness and challenging atmosphere.
Good luck.
