Dear all I have booked a place of stay over internet, and the area is known as New Bold Avenue near to intersection of Gerrard Street East and Coxwell avenue. I have paid CAD 300 as booking amount and the rest to be paid before taking up the apartment (a single bedroom suit for 33 days for CAD 1700).

Please advise if the place is good for staying with my family and also about the connectivity of the area with rest of Toronto. Is CAD 1700 right amount to pay for the location and the type of acco. It has attached bath and kitchen and fully furnished. The rent amount includes tax, hydro(I guess this include both water and electricity charges), internet, local calls, off the road parking. The advance amount would be kept as security deposit and refunded at the time of our departure.

you have already paid $300 and you don't want to lose it, even if we say the place is good or bad. It is not advisable to book without checking any reference.

Normal Single bed apts rent for $ 900 + utilities.

THe rent of $ 1700 is a rip-off.

You could have contacted any desi over this forum. A lot would have a spare bedroom or so. E.g. They could have rent a spare room or a spare basement for $ 500- 600 per month.

What is done is done.

Go to Google maps and type the apt address you booked.
This will give you an idea of the location .

Thanks for the update, but I guess it is still not late. Is there some one interested in renting out a room for CAD 500-600 with attached bath and kitchen or an apartment for CAD 900. I need a central location which is well connected.

Please confirm and give me contact info.

Actually, looking at just a stay of 33 days, the price is not so bad since you are getting a Furnished apartment. Please get a list of items included in Furniture. Usually, the Stove and fridge are included in rentals - all other items are extra. For short period of 1 month, it will not be possible for you to arrange all furniture and then dispose them when you leave.

Please do not feel dis-heartend, it may not be so bad as some people mentioned. A regular 1 bedroom apartment with 1 washroom rents for $900.00 in downtown, plus you need to arrange for the furniture. Also, generally you dont get them for 1 month.

So you might be paying SLIGHTLY higher, if the list of furniture and the quality is good, they deal is not bad at all.

Good luck.

Hiren is quiet right. Those 900$ monthly rental needs you to sign one year lease which is not possible for you just on arrival. so furnished flat with the rate you quoted is not bad at all. Also location is not too far for toronto region, only mississauga is little far.
