But the reality is that I am trying to give the cost of living in the Gulf/ SE Asia, Aust./NZ/ Western Europe as these are the countries that Canadian Desi's are most likely to take employment.
And why would Canadian Desi's would take employment there? If you are planning to move there its ok, why do you think other Cd's will move with you?
There are many people who move out after taking their passport.

Hi TK and Kumar Vadivelu,
I am not making fun of you. Abacan Resource Corporation is testing Offshore well there and offering jobs for oil industry people, thats why I want to know about Benin and Djibouti.
Have a nice day!
There is nothing wrong in providng info reg cost of living for other countries. I did not know abt Sydney, Australia. Limewise, I did not know abt cost of living ME countries also except the currency equivalent to looney and rupees.
Few can understand the concept of saving money when u work in countries where things like housing, education, transport, etc are taken care of by the employer. If that's looked after, then u save a lot. I lived in Far East for 6 months where the housing and transport were taken care of by the employer (I dont know why I quit, anyway that's past). I was paid in USD at that time and the saving potential in Rs was high.
My friend's (desi) dad works in central africa for UN as very few whites go there to work. Paid in USD, everything taken care of except food. What else he needs? Almost everything he earns is a saving.

In a bid to meet the shortage of expat workforce, the UAE will start issuing temporary work permits for a six-month period from October 1. All companies can now seek temporary work permits to facilitate the process of recruiting foreign manpower, said Assistant Under-secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Obaid Rashid Al Zahmi.
In the past, such permits were issued only to oil and energy firms. The three-month temporary permit or 'mission visa' will cost Dh500 (approx $136). For a three-month extension of the permit, companies would have to pay Dh500 ($136) along with a Dh3,000 ($817) bank guarantee, Al Zahmi said.
"The permit is not expensive, rather is beneficial to all as the firms can check the credentials and the performance of the workers they have recruited," he said adding, the workers' rights would also be protected.
More than 200,000 illegal workers have left the Gulf country under a recent amnesty programme, leaving some sectors reeling under staff shortages.
To offset the problem, the Ministry of Labour is planning to introduce the so-called mission visa, which will allow people to live and work in the UAE for up to six months.
