Hi Friends,

Needs help regarding furnishing a one bedroom apartment, now I live in a shared accomodation which is fully furnished, but by next month I am moving to a one bedroom apt as my wife is coming from India, it will be a great favour if you guys could give me suggestions on furnishing the apt on a minimum budget, would like to know about options other than big stores like The Brick.

If budget is low, you may consider Salvation Army or other used furniture stores where they sometimes have good stuff at a very reasonable price.

Hi Desi,

Furnishing is another big CON industry in Canada, be carefull even at
the 2nd hand (used furniture) stores, Salvation Army store is a good place.

First you should do a price check with all the main suppliers (telephonic will
do). Many times we have a different picture in mind than the actual price.

I suggest if you have resources, go for a NEW Fridge, Washer & Dry, Stove etc
as you need it for a longer time. Then again size requirement may be different
after 3 years.

There are places where you can rent a storage facility for a month. Buy things
which are suitable for your new place and keep in this storage place for the moment, on the day you are moving in, hire a U-Haul van for a day and move the stuff.

I know it sounds so simple but it is not an easy task, best of luck.

Cheers

Tom

Don't most 'apartments' come with a fridge and stove? As regards a washer & dryer, that would probably be shared if the OP was going into an apartment building.
