Recharged Pre-Paid Mobile Online ( Net Banking ) , put the RIGHT mobile number , but put the WRONG operator.

So instead of say AIRTEL , by mistake I put AIRCEL from the drop down menu.

The money has been DEDUCETD in Rs. from my bank account , but the mobile balance has NOT been credited..nor has the money been refunded back by the bank :( . Its been 2 days now.

Will I get the money refunded by the bank ? Or will I get the money back from the mobile operator ?

The number entered is RIGHT , just by mistake put the wrong operator from the drop down menu.

That wrong operator won't have this mobile number with them , since it belongs to my right operator..so I am guessing the transaction will be rejected by them & the money will be refunded back to my account .

Am I right ?

Anyone had this experience in India before, when they recharged online with their Indian bank through net banking with the right mobile number , but put the wrong operator by mistake.

TIA

Thank God , atleast the mobile number put was right ..so there is some hope for refund , if you put the wrong number its gone for sure .

Some banks say that the money will be refunded back in 4-5 days ..lets see if this actually happens..the bank in question is ICICI bank India , lets see if they do the same.

They gave me my money back :) ..It took about 4 working days , but it was fully refunded automatically, by direct deposit on their own , I didn't have to do anything from my side :) . ICICI bank rocks :)

So in case you recharge online through net banking or with debit/credit card , if you put the RIGHT mobile number , but by mistake you put the wrong mobile operator from the drop down menu , the money goes from your bank account immediately & your mobile doesn't get recharged . Say you put AIRCEL instead of AIRTEL etc ..don't worry.

Later on after a few days , you get your money back. What happens is your bank forwards the payment to that mobile operator, & if they don't have that mobile number , the transaction gets rejected & the money comes back to the bank , which then refunds you :) . Takes time 4-5 working days , so have patience. But after a week , if its still NOT done , call them.

But if you put the WRONG mobile number you are screwed , as someone else might have the same number either with your operator or some other operator :)

Adam,
You are talking about India. Things will go right.
I regularly get my refund credited in my bank account if I cancel a Railway or Airplane reservation.
Also I got credited my Rediffmail shopping refund without any fuss.

Adam, why don't you recharge using Airtel's website? You can pick and choose the offers you like full talk time, etc. I do not know if you get those offers when recharging directly via your bank.

Most major operators in India have online recharge option and you can pay via your internet banking. Airtel will redirect to your bank's website for payment. No Indian credit card is needed.

I have tried that a few times ..half the times its gone through & half the times its NOT.

The problem is NOT either AIRTEL or your bank , the problem is the in between money processing company say MONERIS et al ..they screw up sometimes.

When you recharge from their website , the money goes from your bank to the Intermediate processing company like Moneris et al , & then to your mobile provider.

But when you recharge directly from your bank , the money goes directly from your bank to them.
