A couple of points i want to add to this extensive 'charcha'.

500k or 1 mil is US, need to be unencumbered. We cannot take a loan or home equity loan here in canada and show that money. Also with exchange rate the 500k US = 650 CAD or 1 mil US = 1.75 Mil Cad.

If we had 1.75 mil here, it is much more worthy.

My relative went to southern part , florida i think , took all his savings and then had to pay himself and house his family and pay for the gas station employees.

Here is the problem. Most or all gas station attendants are illegal desis or illegal mexican or pakistan etc. They work for 10 dollar / hr cash.

He could not find a citizen to work a min wage.
He tried to payroll to a citizen to show he employed, ending up paying two times.

Then the low wage area, in a poverty county , the business was also suffering.
He sold and came back to canada.

Not all will be like this but this angle must be considered.

This green card method is best for ultra wealthy from middle east, china, india who have tens of crores of money.
