Hi CDs

EB5 is an investor category immigration to the US where in you & your family are given a Green Card in 2 years if

1. You can invest $500K in a high unemployment area ( $1m in regular area).
2. Can create 10 full time employees over 2 years.

Going deeper , the business one should start should have the following .

a. Low capital investment in machinery and Fixed assets (excluding building /property)
b. Minimum wages worker which means unskilled industry.

Some viable business which come to my mind are -
Cleaning service
Laundry
Security agency
Seniors home .. Buy the property , hire service staff / nurses and get the seniors to stay.


Any other Business Ideas keeping the above factors (a & b) in mind.


OR as another friend suggested - since it may be difficult to run a successful business in a high unemployment area , wait for some more time (save $1m) and start a cleaning service in Vegas ..

Creating 10 full-time jobs is a tall order. I personally think $500K is not enough of an investment for that even though you get 2 years to achieve the target.

I think you know there are only handful of people on CD who are into any kind of business even in Canada.

Though I am not 100% sure but I think 10 new full-time jobs have to be created. So if you buy an existing business, then the business has to expand so that 10 new full-time jobs are created within next two years.

Thanks for the responses Folks and yes I do agree its a very specific area and not commonly / generally pursued ...

Would your response be any different if the same q was asked with respect to Canada -

Which business need unskilled labor and low capital investment (excluding land and building) ? ....

(Or as RajC says there are few business owners on CD and I do agree with that as well .. BTW RajC you are correct in your assumption of new jobs )
