Call around a few self storage facilities they usually have storage space for car. Shop around, the price varies from place to place.
Also check local classifieds, many home owners offer their spare drive spot for rent.

Also ask the insurance service provider to change the status of his insurance from 3rd. party / comprehensive to parking status (this will give him protection against theft , scratches, natural calamities etc.. but not accident damage to both car and the driver). You may save some more $$ from the insurance company.

As Lemon said, you can pick the dates. For anything above 7 days, please inform your insurance people so that they can give you the discount.
They will send you the insurance paper (reprinited) with new stickers for those days in leave. Once you come reactivate to full insurance, they will again send the modified new insurance papers with the stickers once again.
