The only reason they are asking is because they have NO clue that you are a Canadian citizen and no longer an Indian citizen, hence don't have an Aadhaar card.

For them you are just a regular Indian citizen, even the address & phone number they have on their file is your Indian address & Indian Phone number. As you never informed them about your status.

Banks, Mutual Funds, Stocks, Real Estate, Income Tax etc are getting extremely strict about Aadhaar & KYC documents, especially post demonetisation. Earlier they were just talking about it, but in the last 1 year or so, they have started implementing it.

Very soon due to FATCA - even US & Canada will be sharing stuff with India and vice versa.

India will start asking for your SIN , your property , investments, bank account, CRA details in Canada.

Canada will start asking for your PAN, Aadhaar, property, bank accounts, investments details in India.
