Dear all ,

I am a prospecticve immigrant of Canada having my income 200000 Rs a month in my home town.Right now I am having exposure of 8 yrs in manufacturing (Bearing Manufacturing)I am involved in Production related activities.exposure of
Precision Machining(Grinding,Superfinishing)
FMEA,DOE,SPCSix sigma etc

Now I have an oppurtunity to switchover to IT(SAP PP IMPLEMENTATION) with a large IT sector company. But I am confused which skill would be in more demand in Canada.
I have made up my mind to come to canada & ready to start from scratch.
GUys please advise If Chances of getting a job iin Manufacturing in canada are bright then I will not switch over to IT.But if chances of getting a job as production supervisor are less then I will swicth over to IT(SAP-PP).

Please advise whther to switchover to SAP field or stay in manufacturing so that I can get a job in canada when i come over there after 2-3 years.
I am a mechanicall engineer from REC.31 YRS OF AGE.

Hi,

Getting jobs in any field is tough in Canada.

If you are in Mfg sector, getting Prod Supvr job is not that difficult....initially they might give you a machinists job...you prove them you are good ...you might gradually become supervisor......and one day Engineer.

We are talking about a transition period of 2 to 3 years......I guess you dont mind getting your hands dirty like white collar job fellas in India.

SAP jobs are not easy either......Just doing SAP course wont fetch you a job.....you should work in India doing projects for 2 years minimum and be a TRUE professional in that.

Only difference is........Mfg field salaries are CAD 36k to 65 k

SAP field CAD 60k to 90k...whenever you have projects.....you may be unemployed intermittently........thats Canadian job culture in IT......Hire n Fire..........

Be wise n decide........

Deep

You say you are earning Rs 2,00,000 per month, right? That amounts to Rs 24,00,000 a year, right? That converts to C$70,000 per year!! Are u deranged that you want to come here leaving that job?

Well, I only have what he has posted to go by. And in the post he writes 2 ke baad 5 zeroes. So, unless he has written what he would LIKE to earn and not what he actually earns...that's another matter! Who in his right mind would want to leave a job that gets him Rs 2 Lacs a month. But then he wouldn't be on CD either!! :D In any case, an earning of Rs 20,000 is also a bit on te lower side for a mechanical engineer of 31 years, working for a company where they are implementing SAP. Or am I wrong?

Wheat fields are better. Work as a farmer and make good money. IT and manufacturing are gone to India and China.
