I am planning to move Toronto from states by the end of Nov. But have not yet decided which place to live. I have seen Mississauga, Brampton and Oakville. But everywhere the apt rents are coming higher. So please can anyone tell me how is Hamilton and which areas in Hamilton is good. It would be fine if it’s away from downtown. I would be basically working from home. So I am just looking for a good locality with rent at about $700-$1000 for 1/2Bdr. Your suggestions would be appreciated.

I have no clue about Hamilton but in Toronto, there are few places where you can rent 1 BR apartments in $750 per month, parking and utilities included. I know that because one of my known persons stays in those apartments. They are near Keele and Lawrence. I can get the exact location and intersection. That place is very very convenient. 24 hrs TTC, 10 minutes to downtown, 10 minutes to subway, walk to Walmart....

Another place is: Jameson Avenue, downtown Toronto, Queen and Bathurst, lot of apartments, one bedroom starts from $800, again very convenient location, walk to Lake and 5 minutes to Bay street.

Not sure you'll find anyone from Hamilton here:

Check the following links for apartments in Hamilton, seems to be a lot cheaper than TO.

Why only Hamilton? why not say kitchener, or Oshwa or Pickering, or New Market/Aurora? Any particular reason for choosing Hamilton?

My main reason to look in Hamilton area is because my company is in New Jersey, USA, and I will need to come NJ like every 3-4months so I guess from Hamilton it would be easier. I saw apartments in Brampton, Oakville, and Mississauga but the rents were a bit high and I am looking for 2Bdr apt which in Hamilton in good area it comes around $800.When I come to Toronto I see Hamilton in between so I thought about looking in that area. I have not looked in the area Kitchener, Oshwa, Pickering, or New Market/Aurora and I don’t have any much idea even about that area. But if you could give any feedback about those areas I will appreciate.
I am planning to come Toronto in first week of Nov to see apt in Hamilton and finalize it, as I am moving by end of Nov.
