What IT certification is good for the Canadian Mkt?

I am at a crossroad right now. I am a software developer who is contemplating switching over to LAN Admin. Do any of you IT gurus recommend doing the MCSE, CCNA for the Canadian Mkt? I would like to settle in Canada permanently and was thinking long term. Software development is heading East and it will become more competitive here in Canada as time goes by. It seems the list of requisites just seem to grow for Software Developers.
Need Advice....
