Hi!
My application for PR was received by CIC on 13th January 2004 from bangladesh. I applied under skilled worker class. My interview preference is given for singapore. Could you please tell me how long will it take to get a response from CIC. what is the current expected time frame for response to the application submitted in Jan 2004.
In the CIC website it still says my application is "in process".

I know. But whatever in Og's name would make someone do that when it is equally feasible to apply it from somewhere far closer, like the US for example.

For example, a foreign student undergoing a study program in Canada is not eligible to apply from the US.
Just because the USA is geographically closer, does not mean that you should apply from there - in fact, if such a person were to apply from the US and assuming the application is accepted and processed, it would probably take a lot longer to complete from the US than from his/her home country.
Of course, I know nothing about the OP's situation - so this is true only in general and not in specific cases.
I would assume that if this person is really living in Canada (York Mills) and has applied from Bangladesh (which is probably his home country), it is because he is not eligible to apply from the US and also because it will take longer if he did so.
