Hi,

I am planning to move to Canada soon, but after looking at the thread "Processing time for Parents Immigration" ... I am planning for an Alternate Plan to get my parents to Canada on Visitors Visa. Having heard that getting Visitors visa for canada from India can be very difficult for elderly people, I am leaning more towards following plan:

* My parents have 10 years US Visitors Visa and they have been to US in 2001 for four months and have gone back to India.
* I am planning to get my parents to US (On Visitors Visa) and apply for their Canadian Visitors Visa within US.
* Once they get Canadian Visitors Visa (either single entry or multiple entry) they can move to Canada with me and stay with me for a while
* They can return to India and apply for Multiple Entry Canadian Visitors Visa from India.
* Once they get multiple entry Canadian visa I can apply for their Immigration.

This is to avoid preventing them from coming to Canada. As long as they can come and stay with me, I will be least bothered by the delay in immigration process.

* Does this plan sound feasible??
* Is there anything that I am not seeing (other than the possibility of getting Visitors visa rejected in US)??
* Is there anything that will prevent them from getting Canadian Visitors Visa within US, considering the fact that they are "Visitors" in US itself?

Please advise if I can handle this situation in any other more promising way. I am thinking about all this now, because I dont want to leave my job in US, move to canada and then know that my parents cannot visit me.

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Deep

yes, it works. I have adobpted same method. My parents have visited twice. Faced one serious problem within Canada. In Canada doctors don't want to examine patient outside OHIP plan. How many of other CD's have faced similar problem. If they examine fees is taken in cash without reciept. It is impossible to claim the amount from insurance. Other than medical I did not face any other diffculty in getting them to Canada through US visa.

Thanks for your reply Roopam. Few more qns.

* Did your parents get Multiple Entry Visa for Canada through US?
* How many years the Multiple Entry Visa valid for?
* Do they question the reason for asking Multiple Entry Visa ? Because I havent yet moved to Canada and there is really not a justification for them to ask for multiple entry.

Regards.

As my sister is in Philedalphia,US is it possible that they stsy in US for 6 months and then come directly to Canada for another 6 months. Can this process continue for next 4 years till I sponser them?is there any other way?How many time will they be required to go back to India in these next 4 years?pls advise

why they will be required to go to india. As long they have valid visa for both country, they can shuttle around.

From US they got 3 months visa and later on applied from india for multiple entry visa which is for 2 years

You cannot shuttle between US and Canada. If you enter from US and then visit Canada. Your passport is not stamped at Canadian Border. To stay for more than 6 months visa extension is required from country of entry. US and Canada has some understanding on visitor visa.
