Generally, if they have a new Passport valid for Ten Years, the U.S.Will issue to them a Visa for the ten year period, once approved from India. I think you have been told it is either B1 or B2.

For Canada, they are also issuing to them a 5 Year Visa with Multiple Entries. Check on that at Visa Services there.

When they travel between Canada and USA, they permit multiple visits, even if they do not have Multiple Entry Visa. But the Canadian Visa is for a Six month visit. ( Unless you apply for the SUPER VISA)
