Certainly he is a superb player. A very entertaining player, with an air of arrogance (read confidence) about him. Nice to watch him bat.

He started of with Australia and was a failure in the first series. He came to Chennai and practised to bat spin building. His average against India is 110.
Wait and watch he will be the first to cross 400 runs in test cricket. He is a further refinement of Rahul Dravid in terms of temperament.
Yesterday Rahul Dravid (technically the most disciplined batsman India has ever produced)could not concentrate after 222, while this guy goes on and scores his 380 in 220 balls with 32 fours and 13 sixes.
His concentration is as good as Gavaskar, while he scores also which sunny did not, remember 36 in 60 Overs.
He's superb, no doubt, and an innings of 380 is truly awesome. But let's not forget Zimbabwe isn't exactly known for its fierce bowling line-up.
I think Lara's 375 against England rates higher.

This guys payed only 33 tests having 15 centuries and average of 70!!! Great!!!
He is sure better than our Sachin. He is quite old, otherwise howmany centuries he can make?
According to his standards Sachin should have made 50 centuries...

Matthew Hayden has played in 49 tests, hit 16 centuries and averages 57.67. He made his test debut during 1993-94, played 13 tests and was dropped. It took him 6 years to comeback into the team. His second stint has been very impressive.
Technically, I wouldnt rate him in the same class as Tendulkar or Lara. But he is a hard hitting and attacking player and will not allow the bowlers to dominate him. And most importantly he is a team man, as most Australians are. Unlike Indians, he plays primarily for the team and not for the individual records.

Thanks for correcting - I rarely look at the records book. I was told by someone about this.
If his average has dropped to 57 then it should match with Sachins - I think it should be 56.
Centurywise also he is at par with Sachin.
