First question - How was your uncle able to sponsor you? AFAIK no relatives except dependent sons, daughters and parents can be sponsored.

There is clause in there somewhere which states that one can sponsor a non-immediate family member (ie nephew, niece etc) provided some conditions are met.

Unfortunately my high-speed is down and I'm on dial-up else I would have got the details from the CIC web site.

Please re-evaluate the tone of your message.
Sudesingh was responding to the question by DtC, and not replying to your immigration question.

Secondly, what he said is correct.
He also made it clear that because of a slow Internet connection he could not look up the website link.

Here's the link that he probably meant to post -
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/sponsor/index.html

It clearly describes what he said.

Please treat other members with dignity and respect, especially when you are asking for help !

From the CIC website:

Quote:

you may also sponsor one relative of any age if you do not have an aunt, uncle or family member from the list above who you could sponsor or who is already a Canadian citizen, Indian or permanent resident.

I do not deny what sudesingh said, but as can be seen, the sponsorship is possible only if the sponsor has just no family in Canada.

As per det_rul's post, the maternal uncle who "is died" has a son, because in the post det_rul wants to know whether the uncle's son can now sponsor him instead.

And det_rul - Here's a whack upside your head for not behaving properly. Now go stand in that corner.
