Dear friends, as per Canadian immigration website funds required for a family of four are more than CAD 18,000. Does that mean that at the time of landing i have to show proof of having/carrying that money?
Yes
You can bring money into Canada in the form of:
*cash;
*securities in bearer form (for example: stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills); or
*negotiable instruments in bearer form (for example: bankers' drafts, cheques, travellers' cheques, money orders.)
If you are carrying more than CDN $10,000, when you arrive, tell a Canadian Customs official when you arrive in Canada by filling and handing over a one page form. If you do not tell an official you may be fined.
