Hi friends ! I am 29 yr MBA from Pune (Maharashtra, India). I want Ur assistance for making decision for migrating to Canada. Let me tell u my background. I m commerce gradate with MBA (Marketing) and working as sales manager in one of the media promotion company. Drawing salary around Rs.25000 pm. same in my wife's case, she is also MBA working ... drawing around Rs.28000. Both of us have 4-5 year of experience in marketing management. My career objective is to make lots of money. So I think to migrate in canada.

Is it wise decision to migrate Canada? As we already quite well stalled in pune? Is there good opportunity in Canada for the marketing/ sales professionals?

How much time required on an average person to get proper job? How much in Ur case?

What's the minimum wage for skilled? Unskilled?

Friends your valuable response will change one families life. With our same countrihood atleat i can expect this information from you all.

With regards,

Umesh Bhatt

Canada is a country of oppertunities. But only if you are the kind of person who sees it. There are ppl who come and return after a few months and there r ppl who dont care how they start and do well. Dont expect perfect here if you are willing to take up hard jobs . and keeep looking for your dream then it is good. dont expect to come and get set up immediatly . leave you pride back home and you will do well

Umesh,
Seeing your portfolio it looks you are quite well settled in Pune.
There are pros and cons coming to Canada.
Some of the things you should consider before taking a decision are;

1. The processing time takes around 60 months if you are lucky.Till then you will be around 35 yrs.Compare what you will be earning at this age and if you are in canada what will be the impact in your financial position.

2. In canada I have seen people get success(may be not in their own profession) within a year , but also I have seen people struggling for last 4-5 yrs.So on an average it takes around 2-3 yrs for setting a strong foothold in this country. You will be around 38-39 yrs of age at that time.Again compare yourself as explained in point 1.

3. If you are a very optimistic person with no hard feelings with some of the failures you are the right person to come to Canada. There are lot of things which is excellent-per-se in terms of world class.

4.Last but not the least you are the only person who knows you best so its only you who can take your future decision for the best.

All the best

Don't ask me for reasons. I will not be able to give any. But in my judgement and opinion, you are better off where you are.

Everything is possible, but in your case, the probability that you will regret coming here, is relatively high.

On an average, so is everybody' s. Migrating to Canada does not necessarily help achieve that objective. Very very few first gen immigrants in the skilled worker category have succeeded in making “lots” of money.

That question cannot be answered until after you have immigrated and experienced the outcome of the decision. Right?

Perhaps you need to rephrase the question to be in the context of immigrant Indians.

The answer in that case is - No. But that is only my opinion. I say this because in my understanding, marketing and sales requires considerable interaction and communication with people. As an Indian, and of the age bracket that you are in, you will be severely handicapped on that account.

But again, as I said, it is only my opinion. Perhaps, someone who is from a similar background will be able to say more on the subject.

Averages and statistical measures on such factors are useless.

Minimum wage is just that – minimum wage. It is the same for both. At the current time it is C$6.85 per hour, or nearabouts.

The “valuable response” can change your life. It does not necessarily mean for the better?

I don't think your decision to move to Canada should be based on 'making lots of money.' You should factor in everything else, like quality of life, quality of education (if you have kids) etc.

Thats perhaps the most important point.
Right now i could give your the brightest or the darkest picture, but 5 years from now, I dont know. Factor in that almost 1 million more immigrants will have arrived during this time.

I will differ in that I think MONEY can be made here regardless of what you are doing (legally).

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
