Hi Rajesh
I was on the same boat as you are in two years back. It seems jobs for internationally trained marketing / sales professional are not easily available. There are and can be a few exceptions but generally you will not find a job you were doing back home. Good place to start is hence retail. I am not sure what your experience is - with FMCG or durable industry. Do not loose hope get onto a entry level job if that does not bother you and keep trying.

Hi !
I am not dishearting anyone ..It is a fact that in RETAIL you can become ONLY manager with all your hard work ..This position doesn't pay very well regardless the company . As a manager you will be putting 60 hours to get paid for 40 , No long weekends and sometimes no weekends ..
To become DM you should be a GORA ..
If anyone disagrees he can share his experience / views ..

Growing Old Is Mandatory ..Growing UP is Optional
So retail can not take you far and you can not get into upper level directly so does that mean you change your carreer ...leave sales ? Or are there any other options ?
Hi !
My posting is in regards to "Retail " not "Sales " ....Sales can take you (virtually anywhere) where you deserve to . Whereas retail is good only as a secondary job or may be for a spouse to spend time and make some pennies ...

I understood your post.
Someone suggested to get into sales through retail as it is difficult to get into higher level sales position directly.
But if you can not progress much through retail, how do you get into upper level sales position ?
Dear all,
I have completed a little more then 2 years now in Canada. From whatever I know about Canada from the initial study about the market available for Sales/marketing professional and off course after spending this much of time in Canada, I have learn t one bottom line...."BE A SELF EMPLOYED PERSON IF YOU ARE GOOD IN SALES".
I followed the same path and today I am a much satisfied person with what I am doing. I bought a house exactly after 19 months of my landing in Canada.
But yes, one has to be prepared for spending some time for studying to acquire the required licenses.
I would be more then happy to share my journey with those who are interested. You can reach me on 416 822 6399.
Regards,
VJ.
