Jobs in Winnipeg

I was planning on applying for a Canadian PR, but decided not to do that because of personal reason. Instead, I am thinking about moving to Winnipeg to attend the University of Manitoba in a student visa. I will be going for either MSc or PhD in Natural Resources and Environmental Management.

I heard that one can work part-time off-campus in fall and spring and full-time in summer, if he/she is a full-time student in the Province of Manitoba. I also heard that Winnipeg is the fourth largest city in Canada after Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.

My question is, how hard is it to get off-campus job in Winnipeg? I am talking about any kind of jobs like working in restaurants, departmental stores, telemarketing etc. I am moving there with my wife and a small baby. I am also hoping to find some part-time job for my wife as I heard that she will get work permit if I am a full-time student.

No P/T jobs in winnipeg but its cheaper here.
can take a chance to get immigration its easy here.

Can somebody tell me something about Winnipeg please? I know most of the people in this forum live in and around the Greater Toronto Area. There should be at least a couple of people in this forum who are living in Winnipeg or who have lived in Winnipeg before moving to somewhere else.

I need to make my decision soon and my decision will be totally based on what people tell me about the job opportunities in Winnipeg.

Reason I was stuck in post 21 was that nobody replied to my message and looks like no Indians live in Winnipeg. That being said, I care less what race of people live in what city as long as I can find a job for me and people treat me with respect.

Anyway, things have changed a lot since I asked this question about Winnipeg. Most likey I am not moving to Winnipeg anymore. I did not know if I was going to qualify for a Canadian PR as I do not have a lot of work experience. Now, I found out that I could use my part-time work (convert it to full-time equivalent). I am applying from the US and I going to wait for a PR before moving to Canada. I am just trying to figure out if I should apply for Quebec process. If I apply for Federal process, I will go either Edmonton or Calgary. Eventually, I would like to settle in Vancouver. No more Winnipeg.
