What would be a reasonable estimate for heating costs in a 1 bedroom condo unit based on average usage? Should the heating costs be minimal in summer? Much appreciate if someone can provide a ballpark range.

In a condo you generally pay a monthly maintenance fee, which includes heating cost in addition to all (rather most) utilities. Monthly maintenance could be anything from $300 to $600 / month.

Heating cost in summer - now that would be hot :kaioken:

Thanks for your reponse. I am looking to lease a unit where maintenance, hydro, insurance etc. are paid by the owner but heat is tenant's responsibility. In that situation I was interested in just the heating costs.

Thanks again.

In this scenario, the heat (electric) cost would depend on your usage. For a low user it could be around $100 or lower and if you are using AC all the time and use other appliances as well, then it could reach up to $200 plus.

Thanks Pramod. But isnt what you mentioned is the hydro (electricity) cost? My understanding is hydro is the electricity cost incurred while running appliances. Heat costs are probably heating costs of house. Here is a typical specification for a condo:

Heat Incl: N Hydro Incl: Y

Thats why I was looking for heating costs as separate from hydro.

Thanks again for your response.

Ther term Hydro is used here for water. So, water is included in the maintenance fees. But heating of water, heating of condo and running of all appliances is done by using electricity which you have to pay if it is not included in the condo fees.

I hope it clarifies.
