I have a great sense of belonging with Canada, even only spending 2 years on my PR in Canada. It entirely depands upon what one really want out of life. When in India, we dream of making it to West, and when we finally come here we start feeling confused.

Pretty subjective.

As for my ideas of whether to choose Canada or US, then I would anytime opt for Canada and happy working here than on H1B. At least my PR gives me all the rights and priviledges in Canadian system, except voting and applying for Federal Govt. jobs. But, that's alright, I can wait for another year until I apply for my citizenship. So, all in all - Canada rocks.

Chao...:)

hi seenappa I really liked the thread you have started, I wish I would have known about this iste before. anyway.... just thought I'll also share my experience.

We are now canadian citizens here in USA on TN VISA and we do not plan to come back.

I believe where ever you go Canada or US it depends what kind of work you are doing and what are you bringing home. In Canada my Engineer husband could not get a job unless he pass his PE exam ... we did not have that much time or money for both of us to study.

With one income we were hardly paying our bills. I had to start work and kids would go to baby sitter. we are pure veges but our baby sitter was very very nice Muslim nice lady I still remember her the way she took care of my kids but the fact is my kids were learning about Chicken Tikka and stuff like that. The point is not that i should have find another baby sitter... i do not judge people by the way they eat. I care about the feelings.
but here in US my husband got such a nice offer that I do not even have to think about looking for a job. We enjoy the same life style we would have enjoyed in India. I stay home and take good care of my kids. I believe no matter what mothers are the best person to take care of the kids. I know I could not possibly think about it in Canada.

We have found so many of the ladies who are on H4 visa they saty home and are ready to make freindships. we get to meet more Indian Families than we use to in Canada.

I think we have the best combination.... Canadian citizenship... and TN VISA. My kids are born in Canada and I enjoyed the Maternity Benefits.. that was a blessing for us. but people who come in their 40's they think they are paying to much taxes when they know they are not going to get that kind of benefit.

So at the end of the day it's not just materialistic things only. It's the impact of it. I am kind of a person who never get excited about jewellery or expensive furniture etc. but the fact is when you move you spend money... flushing toilet cost you money...switching the lights on cost you money.... eating .... education .... if lack of money is duisturbing your relationships ... that's the first thing that needs to be taken care of.

US officers are sometimes little rude spl. at borders (we never had any problems though, talking about our relatives experience)

For us USA would be our choice in future. For kids also I believe when I am home I can impact them in more positive way.

I am just sharing my experience.

I have a couple of doubts about the TN Visa & would appreciate if some one could reply -

1. Is TN Visa only for 1 year and needs to be renewed every year ?

2. If answer to 1 is YES then - do we have to come back to Canda for getting TN renewed ?

3. If answer to 1 is YES then - does the current US employer apply for renewal ?

4. Is it possible to seitch jobs when on a TN Visa ?

5. Is it possible to switch from TN to H1 ?
